It was fascinating watching gulls harvest sea urchins, fly up high and drop onto hard surfaces below in order to crack open and extract the meat.
Sea gulls were harvesting sea urchins and then dropping from high above to crack open on rocks and roads. Some roads were literally covered with broken shells.
Many trails go around and through small Saddle Island with beautiful views of the area. A very historic area dating back to the Basque Whalers of the 1500's.
Steps up a hillside hiking around Saddle Island
Hiking around Saddle Island you encounter a variety of terrain and sometimes it is across marshy areas.
Much history is found hiking around Saddle Island. The Basque Whalers had settled here in the 1500's. While not a boat from the 1500's there is plenty of history left behind over the years.
In 1912, the light keepers residence was established and occupied until around 1960.
Small curving roads slice through tons of beautiful scenery and in this case it goes to historic Red Bay in Labrador.
Pinware Beach in Pinware Provencial Park is beautiful. This day I could see a storm was rolling through and had hopes of a rainbow appearing. Despite all the many biting flies, I was able to capture this image.
